Presqu’ile Vineyard and Shokrian Vineyard

This wine is the fall counterpart to spring’s nothingbutlove Gamay. This Gamay is a blend of two thirds Shokrian Vineyard and one third Presqu’ile Vineyard. Shokrian Vineyard is tucked back in Cat Canyon in Los Alamos, CA. This site gets a consistent 40F diurnal shift. Presqu’ile Vineyard lies about 15 miles north in Santa Maria Valley where the fog comes and goes nearly every night. This site’s highs are almost always at least 10F cooler than in Los Alamos. The Gamay is the same clone at each site, they’re both grown by the same teams, but they’ve had very different climactic upbringings.

The Shokrian portion was picked around 20B and the Presqu’ile portion was picked around 22B. The wines were made nearly identically in the cellar. Each were fermented 100% whole cluster on their native yeasts for about 20 days on skins. The wines were pressed and aged separately in neutral French oak until coming together a month before bottling unfined and unfiltered in July 2021.

Earthy nose with essence of petals and bright fruit and a little tannin grip. Imagine yourself in your fancy clothes strolling around the forrest floor filling your hand woven basket with rose hips, wild berries, and fresh porcini. Don’t be afraid to decant this if drinking young.
